Welcome to my Halloween House! I created this scene quite a few years ago
to display in my home during the Halloween season. It is made completely
from scratch using just some left-over wood scraps, foamcore board, polymer
clay and a few small miniature Halloween themed purchases.

The house itself is a simple three-sided box construction with a roof and porch added on. The walls and floor are all constructed from foamcore board and wood strip framing for strength. The roof shingles and plank siding are left-overs from my victorian house. The base for the house was framed by my husband out of scrap 2x2's and an old board. The wood picket fence was a craft store bargain-bin find, as was the grapevine & wire tree. I am still looking for more fencing to finish the other two sides.

I purchased the bricks for the path at a local mini shop.
The two brave trick-or-treaters were my very first attempt at miniature doll-making using Fimo polymer clay. Their clothes are from scraps of cotton material I had lying around.
The dead grass is dried out railroad landscaping material, lychen and dirt.

The water trough has a pump with a scary
Fimo snake wound around it emerging from
the "water" made rom resin. There is a Fimo
snake in the tree also.
|
The pumpkins on the porch and in the ghost's hand are of Fimo polymer clay,
as well as the green monster emerging from the outside cellar door. Some of the pumpkins in the patch were purchased. I bought the huge cauldron, aged it iwith rust paint and filled it with clear resin.

The witch was also an original sculpt. Inside, the fireplace was carved out of foamcore after one side of the paper covering was peeled off, and then painted in various shades of gray and black.
The tattered and faded wallpaper was left over from a dollhouse I had as a child (we do seem to hold on to anything remotely miniature forever, don't we?)
The wood table is hand-made from wood spindels left-over from the stairs of my victorian house and some wood pieces.

See the poor soul the witch has hidden in the attic? He's a rubber Halloween decoration I aged with paint. The black birdcage downstairs holds a frog prince complete with crown made from a jewelry finding. I plan to create another monster coming out from under the basement floor.
The witches crystal ball sits on a table made from the botom half of a strafoam cone covered in midnight blue velvet (from a suit my mother wore when I was very young-yes, I do hang on to enything and everything!)
