This one-of-a-kind art doll assemblage represents the word "mother"
and everything that word brings to mind. For evry person it means
something different.For some it can mean "mother earth". Here mother's mantle is a
cotton poplin fabric printed with various images of this beautiful earth in all her glorious
colors and textures. For others, "mother" represents a kind and nurturing individual,
so here we find mother's skirt created of the same cotton fabric printed with a collage
of motherly images of caring and loving women and their beloved children. There
are also those that see "mother" as a divine, loving presence, and here that
idea is represented by mother's serene, holy face and loving arms open wide
in welcome.The red gem and white satin heart on her breast tells us of her love
for all mankind, and her "fearless" nature is stated clearly by the metal finding
at her waist. Two extra hands dangle from her arms, which she is always
ready to take up when needed.
This piece is dedicated to all mothers, from every walk of life, who strive
to make the world we live in a much gentler and peaceful place.
The entire sculpture measures 12 1/2" high x 6 1/2" wide.
